Instagram rolls out Checkout in the US

It looks like the online shopping space will be getting more crowded as Instagram is moving in with its new Checkout feature in the US. You will now be able to buy products directly from brand posts without leaving the app. Prior to the Checkout, you would be redirected to the brand's website to complete the purchase. The new feature simplifies the process to simply clicking on the item post, selecting details such as sizing and finally placing the order. Checkout-eligible posts will now feature a large blue "Checkout on Instagram" button. Once you make your first purchase you will...

Google Inbox gets shutdown date

Google Inbox was supposed to be the future of Gmail. It offered more advanced filtering, snoozing of messages, and more visual organization to the Gmail inbox. As of lately, Inbox users knew that the app was going kaput, but it wasn't until recently that users are now seeing a more specific shutdown date. If you head to the Inbox landing page: Google.com/inbox, you'll be greeted with a message that says "Inbox is signing off". Find your favorite features in the new Gmail." Google is going to shut down Inbox at the end of March, and a countdown from the Inbox app ends on April 2. We see the...

Working Samsung Galaxy Fold handled on video

More than a month before its US launch, a hands-on video of the Samsung Galaxy Fold surfaced online showing the smartphone being used by someone other than a Samsung presenter. A 2-minute clip originating from Vietnam shows the device functioning in both its folded and unfolded form. One striking detail is the obvious crease in the middle of the larger 7.3" display and it remains to be seen if that will be present on the final phone or not. Weight distribution seems to be solid as the user managed to fold the phone with just one hand while it was lying flat on a table. From the...

Sony Xperia 4 might replace the Compact line, will have a 21:9 screen

The launch of the Xperia 1 and the Xperia 10 duo left us with no Compact phone (there's no successor to the XZ3 either). We've been hearing rumors that new Compact models will be pushed closer to the mid-range and this is where the Sony Xperia 4 comes in. This is largely based on rumors being passed around in the Esato forums, including this image that compares two older Xperia Compacts with the rumored new model. The idea behind the Xperia 4 is simple - keep the width of older Compacts, namely 65mm, but grow the screen to a 21:9 aspect ratio. Most phones in the series came with...

The platform would allow you to play games on any display that has access to the platform. This includes TVs, Laptops, smartphones, and tablets. Stadia's goal is to make games available in 4K resolution and run at 60...

Samsung Galaxy S10e review

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is like a breath of fresh air in a world of behemoth smartphones with enormous displays. To be honest, we didn't expect Samsung or any other manufacturer for that matter to release a compact flagship. Especially since even Sony dropped their compact lineup. But here it is - a small flagship phone for a little less than you'd expect from a normal flagship these days.

Google's mid-rangers will be called Pixel 3a, the small one will have a 5.6" OLED screen

More info has surfaced about Google's mid-range Pixels, starting with their name - they are not "lite". Instead, they'll be called Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. They will have 5.6" and 6" screens respectively. The differences between the 3a and 3a XL (beyond size) are not known yet. However, a clear picture of the smaller phone is starting to form. The Pixel 3a will have a 5.6" OLED screen (not LCD) with 1,080 x 2,220px resolution (18.5:9). Comparing this to the Pixel 3's 5.5" 18:9 screen suggests we may be looking at a notch. That's not visible in the CAD-based renders or the video...
