Redmi K30S appears in full on TENAA, it really is a rebranded Mi 10T

The telecom China Mobile accidentally revealed yesterday that Xiaomi is planning to relaunch the Mi 10T as a Redmi K30S smartphone. Today the very same phone appeared on TENAA with full specs and photos from all angles, confirming that the blunder was real. The device with model number M2007J3SC is listed with a 64 MP camera, meaning we might also have the Mi 10T Pro get rebranded as a Redmi K30S Pro with a 108 MP camera. Xiaomi Redmi K30S on TENAA The specs sheet says the Redmi K30S will have three RAM options - 6/8/12 GB, and three storage variations - 128/256/512 GB but...

Apple iPhone 12 rumors: what was right and what we missed

Smartphone leaks and rumors have become a much larger business than it has been in the past, say 10 years. One company that we’ve seen be the victim of fake rumors the most has got to be Apple, but that’s changed in the past couple of years or so. With this article, we thought it’d be fun to go back and see which rumors about the iPhone 12 models were right (spoiler: many of them were) and which ones were completely missed. Starting in 2017, Apple would announce three new iPhone models every year. This year, however, a report from back in May corroborated the fact that Apple would...

Infinix Note 8 and Note 8i get official

As expected, two new Infinix smartphones became official earlier today - the Note 8 and Note 8i. They are both powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. The Note 8 has a 6.95" 720x1640 LCD touchscreen with a dual hole-punch cutout for a 16 MP selfie camera and a depth sensor next to it. On the rear there's a 64 MP main shooter, aided by a 2 MP macro cam, a 2 MP depth sensor, and another 2 MP "AI Lens" which feels like it's there just to fill the space. All of this is topped off with a quad-LED flash. Infinix Note 8 The phone has 6GB of RAM an 128GB of expandable storage, as well...

Motorola One 5G UW lands at Verizon for $549.99

Verizon simply loves to stick the "UW" suffix onto names of phones that support its mmWave high-band 5G network, and this time is no different. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Motorola One 5G UW. Just as the name implies, this is Verizon's version of the Motorola One 5G that first got official last month. And yes, it has mmWave support. It's also more expensive than the non-Verizon, non-mmWave model, retailing at Big Red for $549.99 all-in. You can also grab it in 24 monthly installments of $22.91. The phone is already available to order online, for home delivery or curbside pickup at...

Moto E7 listed online with full specs, launch incoming

Motorola already launched its Moto E7 Plus last month though its smaller counterpart - the Moto E7 is nowhere to be seen. The device was already seen in certifications, a live leak and a listing for a Canadian carrier and now another carrier is joining in with its own listing of the yet to be announced Moto phone. New Moto E7 listing We get another confirmation of the phone’s key specs which include a 6.2-inch HD+ LCD with a 19:9 aspect ratio and waterdrop notch for the 5MP selfie cam. Geekbench results for iPhone 12 surface, show modest performance gains

The biggest phone announcement of the week, month and arguably the whole year is behind us with the iPhone 12 series already official. As Apple has a tendency to not reveal some specs of its phones (specifically RAM and battery capacity) we have to wait for the first benchmark results to get the actual values. These also help gauge the performance of the new chipset. Well, Geekbench is now populated with multiple listings for the new iPhones which give us the RAM capacity and also show us just what the A14 Bionic chipset is capable of in a synthetic benchmarking environment. Back when...

LG K92 appears on Google Play Console with a 5G chipset

A solid midranger by LG is on its way, as evidenced by a Google Play Console listing. Carrying the codename “acexlm” and the K92 moniker it sports a Snapdragon 690 chipset and 6GB RAM, as well as a 1080p+ screen. Qualcomm initially introduced the Snapdragon 690 chipset coupled with an X51 modem. Its goal is “to make 5G more affordable for consumers worldwide”, as Cristiano Amon, President at Qualcomm, said back in June. The LG K92 also sports a punch hole centered at the top. LG K92 listing on Google Play Console South Korea, the home of LG, is one of the biggest 5G markets...

Sony finally shows off PlayStation 5 UI and new software features

Sony has finally revealed what the user interface of the PlayStation 5 console will look like in a new 11-minute video. Without further ado, here's the full video. The video focuses on two aspects of the UI, the homescreen and the Control Center. First, let's talk about the homescreen, as it's the simpler one of the two. The new homescreen would be familiar to anyone who has used the PlayStation 4. We have the same horizontal tile system that you can scroll through that reveal additional information below them. The tiles have been shrunken down and don't take up as much...

Belkin releases MagSafe-compatible 3-in-1 wireless charger and car vent mount

Predictably, mobile accessory makers jumped on the MagSafe bandwagon to offer a variety of products that use Apple’s new wireless charging magnetic attachment system. Belkin already has a few interesting designs that will be available soon. First up is a MagSafe version of its 3-in-1 charging station. This one leverages the magnets to hold up an iPhone 12. An Apple Watch is held magnetically as well, only the AirPod case is loosely placed over the wireless charging coil. The magnets are apparently strong enough to hold the phone in place even as you swipe across the screen. You can also...

OmniVision unveils 64MP sensor with 1.0µm pixels

Back in February OmniVision unveiled a 64 MP 1/1.7” sensor, which had 0.8 µm pixels. Now the company has come up with a larger 64MP solution – this one measures 1/1.34” and has 1.0µm pixels. This sensor can be used in wide and ultrawide cameas. The larger pixels on the new OmniVision OV64A are 60% more sensitive to light compared to 0.8µm pixels, says the company, which makes the sensor superior in low light. Naturally, it has a 4-cell color filter (aka Quad Bayer) for pixel binning. While it can output 8K video at 30fps, a more interesting mode is 4K with 4-in-1 binning, resulting in...

Canon announces EOS M50 Mark II with minor improvements

Canon has launched the EOS M50 Mark II, an update of its EOS M50 mirrorless camera from two years ago. The update is relatively minor for a two year old body and largely focuses on two things. The first change is the addition of eye tracking autofocus for stills and videos. This will allow the existing Dual Pixel autofocus system to track subjects and lock focus more accurately than on the previous model. The other change is the option to record vertical videos. As sacrilegious as it might sound, a lot of people record vertical videos these days for social media, especially...

Robert Downey Jr. has been the face of OnePlus in China for a while and is, of course, the star of the latest ad, the one featuring the OnePlus 8T. This ad starts off with the new Warp Charge 65 and moves on the camera and screen. Parts of this ad were shot on an actual OnePlus 8T as a way to tout the main 48MP and the 16MP ultrawide cameras (note: some scenes were shot with a professional cam). Video capture gets a nod too, for the image stabilization and 4K 60 fps mode. The 120Hz screen gets a mention as well, it’s one of the major upgrades over the vanilla OnePlus 8....

Xiaomi Redmi K30S accidentally confirmed to be a rebranded Mi 10T

Xiaomi released the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro flagships in the last days of September, bringing yet another unusual camera design to the scene. Now it looks like the Redmi family will also get its own serving of it. China Mobile posted a photo of a Xiaomi Mi 10T phone on Weibo, asking its followers what do they think of the Redmi K30S. The post was later deleted, but nothing really disappears from the internet since people managed to screenshot the accidental leak. China Mobile's blunder It isn’t a surprise that Xiaomi is trying to relaunch a Mi phone under its Redmi branch. The...
