International variant of Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro gets WiFi certified

It was late December when the Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro carrying a model number of SM-C5010 was spotted on the website of the WiFi Alliance. Now, the device has again appeared in that database, but the model number it carries this time is SM-C501X. It's likely that the model that was certified the first time around was the Chinese model, and the one that has now been spotted is the international variant. The device, in case you aren't aware, has not only been spotted in benchmark listings, but has already cleared TENAA and the US FCC as well. Its rumored spec-sheet includes Snapdragon...

Little dragon stars in Qualcomm's newest ad

Qualcomm has posted a new ad on YouTube to promote Snapdragon processors. These processors live in tens of millions of devices all over the world, and the chip maker wants you to know that dragons don't only live in our imaginations. Despite his size, this little dragon likes to use his power for good. He's the kind of dragon you're going to want on you 24/7. He's the dragon you want in your phone. There's another version of the same ad, but chopped up to fit a few seconds of promoting the Microsoft Lumia 640 in the UK. Perhaps the best device to showcase the power of Qualcomm's...

Huawei Maya specs appear on GFX Bench, FCC filing reveals removable back cover

A mysterious Huawei device appeared a few days ago on GFX bench with a Huawei model number: MYA-L03. This device is said to be called the "Huawei Maya". There is even an FCC filing dated December 28 of last year, which managed to slip under the radar during the Christmas/New Year break. We'll get to the FCC filing later, but first let's check out the specs of this unknown device. Huawei Maya specs from GFX Bench The GFX Bench lists the Huawei Maya running Android 6.0, and carries the same model number mentioned above. A MediaTek MT6737T (1.44GHz, 1 processor, 4 cores) powers...

HTC One A9 is only $249.99 today

Over the course of its lifetime the HTC One A9 has seen its fair share of deals, as you'd expect. At one point it was even sold for as low as $299, while in November of last year it briefly went for only $275. Those are obviously very good prices for a handset that launched costing $499, but today Newegg has decided to offer up the best deal ever for the One A9. If you order one from the retailer in the next few hours (since this is a one-day only type of thing), you will have to pay just $249.99. That's essentially half of the phone's initial price, so you're saving a huge...

Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy S7 won't hit all regions this quarter

Samsung may have officially started rolling out the Galaxy S7/S7 edge Nougat update, but it's not yet available in all the markets around the world. One such market is Singapore, where - according to a Samsung rep - the roll out won't begin until next quarter. As the screenshot reveals, the rep has given a "rough" timeline of April to June. Do keep in mind that this isn't a final or an official confirmation, and we've seen reps getting it wrong many times in the past. Until Samsung officially comes up with a word on this, let's hope the update arrives sooner rather than...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will have an S Pen in the box

Samsung is holding an event at MWC on February 26, where it will unveil the Galaxy Tab S3. This tablet has already been certified by the FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance, and a prototype has been running an Android benchmark which gave us a list of its most important specs. An additional detail about the device has surfaced today, however. It turns out that the Galaxy Tab S3 will ship with an S Pen in the box. That said, you won't be able to place the stylus inside the tablet when you're not using it, like on the Galaxy Note smartphones. It will just be a bundled standalone accessory, but a neat one...

Sony Xperia X Compact is once again going for just $349.99

Sony launched the Xperia X Compact in the US last year for a pretty steep $500 unlocked, but in the past few months we've seen its price drop quite a few times. At various points, the X Compact was sold for $450, $400, or even $349.99 back in December. Now that best deal is back, and you can even pick your favorite retailer to purchase from - both Best Buy and Amazon list the exact same $349.99 price for the handset. What's more, all three colors are available - we're talking about, black, blue, and white. It's unclear if this is a limited time thing or not, but it really shouldn't be...

Google Now Launcher will die by the end of March

If you've been confused by the fact that there are two Google-made launchers in the Play Store, namely the Google Now Launcher (GNL) and the Pixel Launcher, then prepare to become un-confused pretty soon. Sure, the Pixel Launcher is only installable on the Pixels, as its name implies, but the search giant is getting ready to stop supporting the Google Now Launcher. The upside is that there will be only one Google launcher in the Play Store by the end of the first quarter of this year (so on March 31 at the latest). The downside is that this probably means the end of the road for any big...

Hopefully some more details about its specs will start leaking out soon too, because we haven't heard a lot about those yet. LG G6 Anyway, the LG G6 in these shots has a metal frame, a brushed metal...

Meizu M5 Note review: One, Two, Three, Five!

Meizu's Note series were off to a great start with the m1 note. It's time for Meizu to freshen up its Note lineup again, and today we get our hands on the newly released M5 Note.

Google now lets you add app-like bookmarks on Android

Google released new Chrome Beta version and it comes with the feature called Progressive Web Apps. When a mobile site is launched and you want to "Add to Home Screen" through the Chrome options, a shortcut appears. The difference is it doesn't act as a normal bookmark, but as an app that can draw notifications, be uninstalled and such. This is really important for users who want to use mobile site instead of downloading an app. Other new features of the Chrome Beta v57.0 are the "CSS Grid Layout" that gives developers more options of positioning various segments on media player...

GoPro has been going through a rough patch lately. It released its first ever drone, the Karma, in September but had to ground it and recall 2,500 units a month later. The result is a $116 million new loss in the last earnings report. But things may be looking up - company CEO Nicholas Woodman has confirmed that the next flagship GoPro camera - the Hero 6 - will come sometime in 2017. Apple patents a wearable battery charger

The US Patent and Trademark Office published an article about Apple's "Charging apparatus for wearable electronic device". The patent is about manufacturing an inductive charger, implemented in the Apple Watch strap or attached to an existing band. The illustrations show us a small wire that connects a battery in the strap to the back of the device. The strap itself is really thin, probably in order to be both comfortable to wear and look tolerable. There's no knowing if such idea will ever make it to a real product or Apple is just protecting this idea from being used by other...

LG promises to fix Wi-Fi interference on UltraFine 5K displays

A few days ago, we told you about an odd interference issue on LG's UltraFine 5K display. Apparently, placing the monitor too close to a Wi-Fi router resulted in flickering and constant disconnection. Some users have even shared extremely unfortunate experiences, where the connected computer itself also gots affected, as collateral damage. Of course, this is nothing really major, there is no permanent damage, but simply interference involved. However, when is happens on a $1,299 ($974 on apple.com, as of writing this) monitor that Apple itself is recommending as a successor, of sorts, to...
