It's the first Monday of the month, and you know what that means - Google is releasing a new monthly security update for its Pixel smartphones. Oh, and Essential is doing exactly the same for its one and only device. Despite not launching a follow-up to the PH-1 and firing a lot of its staff, it still manages to impress, month after month, by delivering security patches exactly at the same time as Google. Anyway, the search giant has also packed some functional updates for its Pixels this time around, alongside the security fixes. "OK Google" detection should be improved, as well as music...

Samsung CEO embarrassed by the Galaxy Fold fiasco, admits he "pushed it through before it was ready"

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is perpetually coming soon. The Korean company issues a new press release or has an exec do an interview every few weeks reiterating in vague language that the launch is still on, and it will happen sooner rather than later. But time keeps passing and the Fold is still nowhere to be seen in stores. Samsung co-CEO DJ Koh has now told The Independent that he admits he "missed something on the foldable phone", but the company is in the process of recovery. At the moment more than 2,000 prototypes are being extensively tested so that no new issues will arise. DJ...

Alleged back glass for Huawei Mate 30 Pro leaks, shows huge circular camera cutout

Apple and Google's 2019 flagship smartphones are all rumored to have huge squircle-shaped camera islands on their backs, but Huawei has already been there, done that - with the Mate 20 Pro last year. The phone's successor, however, may be going another way entirely. According to an image outed today that purports to show the back glass for Huawei's upcoming Mate 30 Pro, this time around the Mate flagship will employ a circular camera island, leaving Apple and Google to fight for the "best squircle" awards. That is, of course, if this is legit - which it very well may not be, given...
