Cortana is headed to Outlook for Android and iOS

While you may read more news about the Google Assistant and Amazon's Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana is also a virtual assistant that still exists. The company has slowly increased its reach by integrating it into more places than just Windows 10, and at the moment it's readying Cortana's next adventure. The assistant will apparently make it into the Outlook app for Android and iOS. That will allow Outlook users to listen to emails and respond to them with their voice. Microsoft is developing the feature in such a way that it will be easy to use while driving and connected to the car through...

Honor 7C becomes official on March 12

The Honor 7C passed through TENAA last month on its way to becoming official, and today we've found out exactly when that will happen. The online-first Huawei sub-brand posted the image you can see to the left on Chinese social media. The promotional poster says we should expect the Honor 7C to be announced on March 12, and come with a 5.99" touchscreen and a triple slot housing two SIMs and one microSD card. Oh, and it also boasts a dual rear camera of course. As per TENAA's listing, that display will have 1,440x720 resolution and the increasingly trendy 18:9 aspect ratio, while...

The Nokia 8 Pro will be joined by a Nokia 9 powered by the same CPU. Nokia 8 Sirocco There's also word that the Nokia 9 will have the "best in-class" smartphone camera. Google rolls out March security update for its Pixels and Nexuses, factory images and full OTAs available

Microsoft has Patch Tuesday, Google has Patch Monday - the first Monday of the month, that is (unless it's a holiday in the US). So, as today is the first Monday of March, like clockwork the search giant has outed the newest Android security update for its Pixels and Nexuses. Factory images and full OTA zip files have been posted as usual (see the Source links below). If you want to manually flash either, note that the former will erase your data. Although unless you're an enthusiast with very limited patience, you're probably best served by the over-the-air rollout, which should have...

Xiaomi wants to enter the US smartphone market by the end of the year, or in early 2019

As you may know, Xiaomi has been doing quite well in the smartphone space with its devices that offer great specs for their prices. However, the Chinese company has only been officially active in a handful of markets so far. One of the biggest omissions has been the US, but that's about to change if a new report from the Wall Street Journal pans out. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the company is looking to finally enter the US market either towards the end of this year or in early 2019. Unfortunately no more specific details are available at the moment, but he did say he's aware of the...

Apple reseller in Malaysia forced to cancel $50 iPhone sale when thousands of people showed up

A Malaysian retailer, Switch, had no choice but to suspend a clearance sale that it advertised to sell off some of its demo units including iPhones between the 5S through the iPhone 7. iPad Minis, iPod Touches, iMacs, Apple TVs, and MacBooks. All in all, there was probably a total of 200 Apple units altogether, and just 10 iPhone 5S devices marked at $50 with very limited quantities of a sub-$100 iPad, a sub-$150 MacBook Air, and a 24-inch iMac for $255 (which all sound way too good to be true). The problem here was that over 11,000 people showed up, according to a Facebook post, for a...

Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) to only get quarterly security updates

Samsung has updated the Security Updates page on its website. While some 2016 models -including Galaxy J1 (2016), J3 (2016), A3 (2016) - have been removed altogether, what's surprising is the recently launched Galaxy A8+ (2018) is in the 'quarterly security updates' section. This means the device won't get monthly updates. The Galaxy A8 (2018), on the other hand, sits in the 'monthly security updates' section. As for other changes, the Galaxy J2 (2018) and the Galaxy Tab Active 2 both have been added to the quarterly list. The Galaxy S9/S9+ flagships haven't yet made it to the list...
