Redmi 10 2022 acquires multiple certifications

It seems Xiaomi is preparing a 2022 refresh for its Redmi 10 smartphone which launched back in August. The Redmi 10 2022 (model number 21121119SG) was spotted on the IMEI database by MIUI tipster Kacper Skrzypek last week and was later revealed to pack the exact same camera setup as its predecessor with a 50MP main cam, 8MP ultrawide snapper and 2MP macro and depth helpers. The #Redmi102022 camera setup is the same as basic Redmi 10 (S5KJN1/OV50C40 50Mpx, IMX355 8Mpx, OV02B1B/GC02M1B 2Mpx), so I won't be surprised if it's a very similar device.— Kacper Skrzypek 🇵🇱 (@kacskrz) November 23,...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 4G goes official: It's a Redmi 10 with a different camera setup

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi announced the Note 11 series last month in China, consisting of three smartphones - Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro+. And now, the company has further expanded the Note 11 lineup with a 4G version of the vanilla Redmi Note 11. But this isn't just a 4G-only variant of the Redmi Note 11. It's actually a Redmi 10 with one less camera on the rear. That means you get a Helio G88 SoC, Android 11-based MIUI 12.5, and a 6.5" FullHD+ LCD with 90Hz refresh rate, which can automatically switch to 45Hz when you are reading something and 60Hz when watching...

Unsurprisingly Xiaomi is preparing for its next launch in India which is happening on November 30, but what about plans for after that? Well, it turns out that the company has even more stuff in the pipeline for the subcontinent. According to a traditionally reliable tipster, the Xiaomi 11T, 11T Pro, and Redmi 10 2022 are all going to be launching in India very soon. Additionally, the company is reportedly testing the Redmi Smart Band Pro, Redmi Watch 2, Redmi Watch 2 Lite, and Xiaomi Watch S1 Active in the country - and that means any or all of these may also be released at some point in...

Poco X4 and Poco X4 NFC are coming soon, expect a Redmi Note 11 Pro rebrand

It's been quite a while since the Poco X3 NFC made its debut - more than a year, in fact, from its September 2020 release. And while the M-line is already in the 4 territory with the launch of the Poco M4 Pro, the mid-range X-series is currently still made up of the X3 NFC and X3 Pro. That will change soon, according to the latest leak. It turns out that Poco is working on both an X4 for the Indian market sans NFC, as well as an X4 NFC for global markets. It doesn't seem like the awkward naming scheme is going away this time around. Poco X3 NFC The same source that spotted these in...

Xiaomi 12 lineup to feature curved displays, symmetrical speakers

Xiaomi is expected to unveil its 12 and 12X smartphones at an event in December, one a Snapdragon 8 Gen1 flagship and the other with a more modest Snapdragon 870. Now, adding to the rumored specs, popular Weibo insider Digital Chat Station shares that both phones will feature curved displays. Last year's Xiaomi 11 lineup featured a flat-sided Xiaomi Mi 11 and a curved Mi 11 Ultra. Another tidbit has to do with the speakers - according to the leaker, the Xiaomi 12 and 12X will feature symmetrical stereo speaker grilles, likely on the top and bottom of each phone. The speakers on the...

Nikkei: Apple to use self-developed iPhone modems from 2023

Apple has long been looking to transition away from using Qualcomm modems to its own in-house developed solutions. A new report from Nikkei Asia suggests that Apple will finally start using its custom 5G modems in 2023 and they will be built on TSMC’s 4nm process node. Prior to this, a report by Ming-Chi Kuo also speculated that Apple will switch to its in-house modem in 2023 at the earliest. Apple has been in search of a new workaround for its smartphone modems ever since it dropped Qualcomm in 2018 due to patent disputes though it still uses Qualcomm’s X60 in the iPhone 13 series....

Motorola to pioneer Samsung's 200MP camera sensor, Xiaomi will be next

Samsung announced its 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor back in September but we are yet to see a phone using that. According to popular tipster IceUniverse it's not going to take long, but the device won't be coming from Samsung. According to the very reliable tipster the first phone to use it will probably be from Motorola with Xiaomi quickly following. Samsung, on the other hand, will wait until 2023 before releasing a 200MP handset. Perhaps the Galaxy S23 Ultra will get that honor. Seeing how a 200MP sensor will put significant strain on the ISP we wonder if those rushing to implement it...

Vulnerability in MediaTek chipsets discovered, promptly fixed

Check Point Research published a whitepaper detailing a vulnerability that has been fixed by MediaTek back in October. The vulnerability allowed for what's called a privilege escalation attack. The issue itself is related to the AI and audio processing and apps with the right code could have gotten access to system-level audio information that apps usually don't have. More sophisticated apps could have launched an eavesdropping attack even. Check Point Research explains that the vulnerability is pretty complicated and the researchers' team had to reverse-engineer the process. In...

Four unknown Nokia phones surface, two show off a new design

Images of four unknown Nokia smartphones have surfaced, shared by Evan Blass. And while we don’t know much about them – not even their names, just their model numbers – they do hint at a change in design language. We’ll start with the N150DL and N1530DL. Two clearly related devices, they have their camera bump in the upper left, a rounded rectangle that is visibly split into two parts. Given the notch, these are probably mid-range devices. The side-mounted fingerprint reader suggests an LCD and we also notice a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top. Unfortunately, we cna't make out the label on the...
