Samsung Galaxy S9 running Android 8.1 spotted in benchmarks

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, which launched in March running Android 8.0 out of the box, may be about to get the 8.1 update in the near future. The Galaxy S9 has been spotted in a Geekbench listing running Android 8.1. Samsung hasn't provided any guideline on when the update will arrive, and benchmark listings can't be seen as anything certain, but at least we know the update is in development. We can hope that the testing goes smoothly and the official rollout isn't that far away now. Via

Apple-owned digital magazine service Texture pulling plug on its Windows app

Magazine subscription service Texture, which Apple acquired less than a couple of months ago, has announced it is shutting down its Windows app. It'll not be available after June 30 this year. The company made the announcement in a support page update on its website. To keep things working smoothly, older versions of the app sometimes need to be retired. Texture said its apps for other platforms, including Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire, will continue to be available. It's worth mentioning that Texture doesn't offer a web app, meaning Windows users won't have any other option...

Sadly, an exact timeframe wasn't revealed by the executive, but 'shortly' suggests a waiting period measured in weeks rather than quarters. Source

Oreo for T-Mobile LG V30 is now available

LG V30 units on T-Mobile has just started receiving their Oreo serving. There's, however, a caveat - the update is not yet rolling out over-the-air. You'll have to manually install it through the LG Bridge software. There's another way to get the update (if you wanna go down that route): download the package from XDA and install it on your device using LG UP. An official change-log isn't yet available, but going by the same update on other carriers it should include AI features from the V30 ThinQ, as well as the 'ThinQ' branding. Oh, and yes, the screenshot makes it clear...

HMD Global announced the upgraded Nokia 6 (2018) and the phone made its way to us for the full tests. We already released the complete written review last week, but now we have it on video if you prefer to see more of the device in flesh and bones, or in this case - in an aluminum and copper. The new Nokia 6 comes with some significant updates over the Nokia 6 like a Snapdragon 630 chipset that enables 4K video and latest connectivity options, including Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C port. There are also minor design changes - the fingerprint scanner goes on the back, and the front now lacks the...
