Meizu M6T sample photo shared by the company's Senior VP

Meizu is readying to launch new low-end smartphone named M6T, as confirmed by Meizu's Senior VP Li Nan in his latest post on Weibo. Judging by the manner of teasing the company has chosen - posting a sample photo we can guess the device is going to have the camera as its key selling point. The sample feature the trendy background blur effect and beautification filters, while the icon of the watermark suggests a dual camera setup. The photo only has 5MP resolution, but that's undoubtedly a result of the resize applied either by the uploader or Weibo's platform....

Xiaomi Mi 8 Anniversary Edition stops by the 3C and FCC

It seems that Xiaomi is all set to launch its next flagship at its May 31 event. Its name will likely be changed from Mi 7 to Mi 8 to mark the 8th anniversary of the company. And two versions of the phone were spotted on China's 3C and the US FCC's certification websites. The 3C listing doesn't give away too much information except model numbers, M1805E2A and M1803E1A and support for 5V3A / 9V2A / 12V1.5A charging (up to 18W). The FCC report is even less helpful for filling in blanks in specs we have, so we still have to rely on rumors exclusively. According to previous...

Deal: T-Mobile starts LG G7 ThinQ preorders with a BOGO offer

Pre-orders for LG's spring flagship, the G7 ThinQ are about to start on T-Mobile and the early bird offer is pretty sweet. The pre-sale starts on Friday (May 25) at 5:00 a.m. PT. If you get one through T-Mobile's EIP (Equipment Installment Plan), you will get instant $30 price reduction. This means $750 FRP ($30 down and $30 each month). However, arguably the more alluring offer this spring is the "Buy one get one free" deal the carrier proposes to anyone who gets two units on EIP during the pre-sale. You have to sign two contracts, of course, but the cost of one of the units will...

Deals: Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact for £300, Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 for £434

The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact was replaced by the XZ2 Compact last month, but that just means it's time for some bargain hunting. An eBay deal offers a new unit for £300. The best deals for its successor are around £520, so there are significant savings. You can grab an XZ1 Compact from here. Note that this is only for the Twilight Pink color option, which isn't particularly pink. You can use our specs difference tool if you're wondering about the pros and cons of each model. In short, the screen isn't as sharp and the chipset is a generation behind, but we're still talking about a...

OnePlus explains why the 6 doesn't have wireless charging

"We don't really feel the need to add wireless charging. We're not going to add a feature just for the sake of it," said OnePlus officials when asked about the OnePlus 6. Apparently, having to buy a wireless charger separately is considered a barrier to entry, another strike against including the feature. And of course, the company points to the increased complexity (and price) of adding support for wireless charging. For many this is a non-issue. Dash Charge is just insanely fast and you can top off your phone for a few minutes in the morning and not worry about the battery for the rest...

Nokia's maker closes a new funding round at $1 billion valuation

The press release still refers to HMD as a "start-up", though it is now also a unicorn. The Espoo, Finland-based company has raised $100 million in a funding round at a valuation of a cool billion dollars. The money came from multiple investors led by Ginko Ventures. The money will go to "strategic investments" and aggressively expanding the lineup of Nokia-branded phones. And that's the plan for this year, so we won't have to wait until 2019 for exciting announcements. HMD is not even two years old yet (it was founded on December 1, 2016), but in the fiscal year 2017 it posted...

Xioami CEO: Mi Max 3 to arrive in July

Exactly one year passed since the Mi Max 2 was released so fans are understandably eager to see its successor, but in the latest Weibo post, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun said that the device is still not ready and we will have to wait until July. There was an outside chance that we'll see the Mi Max 3 towards the end of this month when Xiaomi is holding an event for some of its products - the Mi 8th Anniversary Edition flagship and Mi Band 3. That's obviously not happening though and we are in for some more waiting. Anyway, the Mi 3 is expected to deliver some interesting features like...

vivo X21 UD with in-display fingerprint to launch in India on May 29

The vivo X21 UD may look like every other notched smartphone out there, but it offers a technology that most of its flagship rivals lack - in-display fingerprint scanner. And now it's coming to India too. The device was first launched in China at the end of March, followed by Singapore in the beginning of May. Today Flipkart's mobile app started teasing the X21 UD's launch in India on May 29 and bragging about its exclusivity of the phone. LG Q7 trio unveiled with DTS sound and optional Quad DACs

Audiophiles that can't afford a G or V-series phone may want to have a look at the new LG Q7 trio. It's an upgrade on the LG Q6 with some serious audio credentials. The Q7 features Hi-Fi audio with DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, which can emulate 7.1 channela over headphones. If you go for the LG Q7+ variant, you also get Quad DACs like a G7 or V30. And like them, there's no 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you'll have to use USB-C headphones (Quad DAC does nothing for Bluetooth headphones). The Q7 trio offers durable metal bodies. They are MIL-STD-810G-compliant and IP68 waterproof. On the...

Samsung Galaxy J8 unveiled: dual cameras and large battery on a budget

The Samsung Galaxy J8 takes the new A6+ as its base and its slashes its price - in India it will cost INR 19,000 ($280/€240), down from INR 26,000 for the A-series model. Of course, changes have been made with pricing in mind. The phone has a polycarbonate unibody and features a tall 6" Super AMOLED screen with 720p+ resolution. It's powered by a 14nm Snapdragon 450 chipset and has 3,500 mAh battery, so battery life should be solid. The dual camera on the rear of the new Galaxy J8 is the same - 16 MP main sensor (f/1.7 aperture) plus a 5 MP secondary sensor (f/1.9). The selfie camera is...

Under the hood is Samsung's own Exynos 7870 chipset with octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU running at 1.6GHz, Mali-T830 MP1 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The 32GB of internal storage can be expanded via the microSD card slot. On the back, you will find a...

The Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018) and Galaxy A6+ (2018), which debuted earlier this month, are now available for purchase in Europe. Multiple retailers - including Saturn and Media Markt - have the duo in stock, and are offering them for €299 ($350) and €369 ($433), respectively. Available color options include black, gold, and lavender. The Galaxy A6 and A6+ (2018) are also on sale in Romania, where they are priced at RON1,400 and RON1,700. Unsurprisingly that's the exact same price as in Germany and chances are we won't see much fluctuation as the duo makes its way around the EU in...

Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury official with Snapdragon 660, 16MP camera

The Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury is now official in China - the handset that was previously rumored to be called "Galaxy S8 lite". It packs a 5.8" Infinity Display inside a body the same size as the Galaxy S8. It's a Super AMOLED panel with 1,080 x 2,220 px resolution (18.5:9). The phone has a single camera on the back - 16 MP sensor and an f/1.7 aperture. It can record 4K video at 30 fps, but lacks OIS. The selfie camera has an 8 MP sensor and f/1.7 aperture. The Snapdragon 660 chipset inside the Galaxy S Light Luxury should offer similar CPU performance to the Galaxy S8, though...

The phone scored around 700,000 registration so it certainly generated a lot of interest and chances are stock won't last much longer then. Recently, it was all but officially confirmed the Nokia X6 will be made available globally. Via
