Watch the unveiling of entry-level Poco C3 smartphone live here

Poco is announcing its cheapest smartphone to date at an event that will be live-streamed on YouTube. The device is named Poco C3, will cost under INR10,000 ($135/€115). All other details will be revealed at 12 PM IST (06:30AM UTC) and we’ve provided the video below to watch it live. The Poco C3 camera design was teased earlier this month, revealing a striking similarity to the Xiaomi Redmi 9C, which is not sold in India. We are pretty confident the new Poco will be just another rebranded Xiaomi phone, meaning we’re looking at a Helio G35 chipset and a 13MP main + 2 MP macro + 2 MP...

Google's Pixels get October update with many fixes

As it is the first Monday of the month, today Google has started pushing out its monthly update for the Pixel smartphones that it still supports. Speaking of - the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are only going to get one more update, in December. After that, it's game over for them, their support window will end after three years and a bit. The update brings the usual security patches, of course, but also fixes some bugs and improves some features. For example, auto-rotation should be better, and there are fixes for some devices being stuck during boot, call notifications being...

Asus ROG Phone 3 is now available in the US for $999.99

Today Asus has finally made the ROG Phone 3 gaming smartphone available in the US. You can pick one up for $999.99 from Amazon, B&H, and the Asus online store. That price nets you the version with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. If you need even more memory, the SKU with 16GB of RAM sells for an extra $100. One thing to note is that despite the company's press release explicitly mentioning availability in stock, neither Amazon nor B&H agree with that at the moment. So it may take a few more days until that's settled. You should also be able to find various ROG Phone 3 accessories...

Android-powered $6000 Zeiss ZX1 goes up for pre-order

The Zeiss ZX1 seems to be finally going up for sale. The Android-powered camera recently showed up for pre-order on B&H, although it later changed to 'Notify When Available' at the time of writing. The Zeiss ZX1 was initially announced two years ago in September 2018, with the launch being planned in early 2019. That clearly did not come to fruition and for a while the camera was seemingly forgotten until it suddenly showed up on B&H. The Zeiss ZX1 is a compact mirrorless camera with a fixed lens. It has a full-frame 37.4MP CMOS sensor with a sensitivity of ISO 80-51200 and...

Samsung's Galaxy S21 to miss out on under display camera, Z Fold 3 to premiere it

It appears that Samsung won't be able to premiere an under display camera on the Galaxy S21 (possibly named Galaxy S30) series, due to low production yield of the technology. The information comes from a report by Korean outlet TheElec. Samsung allegedly aimed to deliver an under display camera on the Galaxy Z Fold2, before targeting and ultimately missing the deployment of the tech on the 2021 Galaxy S series. Samsung is reportedly working on a better solution for the under display camera that won't compromise as much on image quality as current technology. The report claims that...

HarmonyOS 2.0 will allegedly be available on the Mate 40 phones first, then P40 and Mate 30

Huawei officially confirmed that some of the phones running EMUI 11 will be able to install HarmonyOS 2.0. The new version of the in-house operating system is being rolled out to developers in stages, the first beta for phones is expected this December. A poster on Weibo claims to have seen the schedule and it goes like this – phones with the Kirin 9000 will get it first (those would be the Mate 40 series), then phones with Kirin 990 5G (some P40 and Mate 30 models) and so on. Even rather old phones powered by the Kirin 710 and 810 will get to join in (after quite a wait). The “partial”...

Cricket Wireless offers 5G connectivity on top of AT&T’s network, but currently it sells only one 5G capable phone. Soon it will add the LG K92 5G to its roster, the first model in the K90 series. It features a quad camera and a quad LED flash, both arranged in squares on the back. Notice that only one of the cameras sticks, the other three are flush. Anyway, the front-facing camera is mounted inside a centered punch and there’s a side-mounted fingerprint reader plus a Google Assistant key. LG K92 5G for Cricket Wireless The K92 seems to be a remix of the LG Q92 5G with some...

Galaxy Note20 Ultra's camera sees little love in DxOMark review

The latest smartphone to get tested by the team over at DxOMark is the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra and it managed to put up a combined score of 121. This places it at the tenth position in the overall smartphone photography ranking and a single point behind the Galaxy S20 Ultra. While its camera setup is versatile, there are some evident pitfalls including inconsistent zoom, visible noise in low light scenarios as well as some autofocus hiccups. The hardware on the Note20 Ultra is pretty familiar with a main 1/1.33-inch, 108 MP-resolution sensor which outputs 12MP shots just like...

This was set to go into effect on September 30 2021, but now the company has announced that for India at least this will be pushed back to April 2022. We will be engaging, we will be finding ways (so) that we can grow together.” This delay...
