Qualcomm CEO expects that Apple will likely end up settling in latest lawsiut

Qualcomm and Apple are currently in a heated back and forth of legalities. Not long ago, Qualcomm sued Apple over unpaid patent loyalties that Apple allegedly refuses to pay for. The lawsuit in question even called for a temporary ban of all Apple products that use Qualcomm's patents, mostly related to performance and battery efficiency in software and hardware. In an interview with Fortune Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf outlines that the whole dispute boils down to a contract with terms that the other party refuses to meet, in this case, the terms are monetary (i.e. Qualcomm's royalties...

LG V30 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 expected to work on T-Mobile's 600MHz LTE

In addition to touting its latest Speed Test results, T-Mobile's CTO, @NevilleRay tweeted a number of graphs and maps showing the carrier's progress over the past several months, as well as it's LTE availability, reachability, and speeds. I love this GIF. We'll be deploying 600 MHz so fast that we're condensing a 2-yr process into only 6 months. ONLY @TMobile moves that fast! http://pic.twitter.com/uPtTtUf5FC— Neville (@NevilleRay) July 17, 2017 T-Mobile has indeed been moving very quickly, in the GIF above, you can see how much T-Mobile's coverage has improved in the past few years. Its...

Check out the latest concept video of the Pixel XL 2

Last week, Android Police posted confidently about a render that is almost certainly representative of the Google Pixel XL 2. This render was taken by Concept Creator on YouTube, where a minute-and-a-half video of a fully-rendered Pixel XL 2 shows off the phone's supposed exterior design, complete with the 18:9 aspect ratio display and glass window on the back. The video render really gives substance behind the leaked image. Given that the Pixel XL 2 will supposedly be made by LG, the round, yet blocky curves around the edges of the phone are quite reminiscent of the LG G6's body. In...

The carrying case was crafted by Incase which safely holds all the parts of the kit together. iPad Pro 9.7 LTE drops to $499.99 sans contract, $479.99 with Verizon agreement

For all intents and purposes, the recently released iPad Pro 10.5 is the replacement for the iPad Pro 9.7 from last year. And since the new model is already available, that means we're starting to see some very sweet deals on the old one. Case in point: the 32GB Wi-Fi+LTE iPad Pro 9.7 can now be bought for just $499.99. That's $230 less than the usual price for this particular configuration. To snag a tablet at that price, you need to head over to eBay, where it's being offered by a seller with 98.4% positive feedback. Needless to say, purchasing this model will not force you to sign an...

Google Play Music for Android tests letting you play songs directly from search

A few months ago, Google Play Music introduced the ability for you to play songs directly in its search interface - but only on the web. This has so far been sorely missing from the service's mobile apps. That's about to change, however. Google is now testing the addition of the same function inside Play Music for Android. The new feature isn't tied to a specific version of the app, as it's been spotted on both 7.9 and 7.10, so it means it arrives via a server-side switch if you're lucky enough. If you receive this, when you search for something in the app you'll see that the...

Apple Watch Series 2 collection is now $70 off, starting at $299

Apple products are rarely discounted before they get discontinued, so this is a rare opportunity indeed. Best Buy is now offering $70 off the entire Apple Watch Series 2 collection. So regardless of which particular iteration of the company's latest smartwatch you're interested in, you'll save a cool $70 if you buy from that retailer. This means that the Apple Watch Series 2 now starts at $299. But, again, you get $70 off no matter what model you choose - even the more expensive versions are included in the promotion. The one thing to note here is that we don't know how long this deal...

The emoji Apple revealed are from the Unicode 10.0 specification, which includes the likes of 'star struck', 'exploding head', 'face vomiting', 'crazy face', 'woman with headscarf', 'bearded person', 'person in lotus position', 'breastfeeding', 'zombie', 'genie', 'mage' 'merperson', and more. You can find the full list on Emojipedia. Most of the ones listed above have been...

Google Allo now lets you react to individual messages

While we all wait for that desktop client to finally become reality, Google's Allo messaging app hasn't stopped adding new features. Today version 14 has been released, and it introduces the ability to react to individual messages in a chat. The functionality is shown in the image below, even though it's nothing new - Allo competitors such as Facebook Messenger and even Skype (in its most recent redesign) have had this built-in for a while now. Still, it's good to see Allo catching up. Once you have this update, you can let your friends know exactly how you feel about any of their messages...

Moto E4 lands at MetroPCS on July 31, yours for just $49

Motorola's Moto E4 is coming to MetroPCS, T-Mobile has announced today. The budget smartphone will become available at the magenta carrier's sub-brand on July 31. This will happen at "participating locations", so you may not immediately find the E4 in all MetroPCS stores. The handset will be priced at $49 plus tax, after an instant rebate (the full retail amount being $129). However, for a limited time after it launches, if you switch over "a qualifying new number", you'll be able to grab the Moto E4 for $0 plus tax. The Moto E4 has a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP f/2.2 main...

Samsung once again offers Buy One, Get One free deal for Galaxy S8, with trade-in though

Samsung is playing the BOGO game once more. Back in May, we told you about the company's very own Buy One, Get One free deal for its flagship smartphone duo, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. And now the offer is back, but with slight modifications. See, this time around you need to trade-in an eligible smartphone in order to receive the second S8 for free. And the list of such eligible handsets isn't very big: you can send Samsung a Galaxy Note5, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge, an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, or 7 Plus. That's it, those are all your options. Additionally, the phone you send in...

New Essential phone (A11) gets WiFi certified

Looks like Andy Rubin's Essential - which is yet to start shipping its first phone, the PH-1 - is already working on a new device. Carrying a model number of A11, the handset has been certified by the WiFi Alliance (WiFi). Sadly, and as is usually the case, the WiFi listing for the phone doesn't reveal any of its key specs, except that it runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. However, given that the handset has started collecting necessary certifications, we expect to hear more about it sooner than later. Source | Via

Nokia 8 leaks in all its glory, press renders and specs outed

The Nokia 8 may be arriving in a store near you very, very soon. Earlier today we heard that it would be launched on July 31, and now a couple of press renders portraying it have been leaked by Evan Blass (also known as @evleaks). As recently hinted, this will be HMD Global's flagship smartphone for 2017, and not the Nokia 9. The Nokia 8's rumored specs definitely back that positioning up. It's said to have a 5.3-inch QHD (2,560x1,440) touchscreen, the Snapdragon 835 chipset at the helm, and 4 or 6GB of RAM, depending on which version you buy. However, it is possible that the 4GB model...

Upcoming Xiaomi phones to feature Samsung AMOLED screens

Samsung Display and LG Display are in a tug of war for customers for their OLED offerings and the Samsung side just scored a win - Xiaomi placed an order for 6" rigid AMOLEDs. 1 million are set to be delivered this December, then 2.2 million in January. This comes after the company allegedly tried to source 5.5" flexible OLED panels from LG, but the deal fell through as LG Display's manufacturing plant will start production three months later than expected. Xiaomi already used such a panel for the Mi Note 2 (1080p resolution) and was expected to use a newer generation (QHD resolution)...

PayPal support comes to Samsung Pay

Samsung has added PayPal as a payment method in its mobile payments service Samsung Pay. Effectively, Pay users can now use their PayPal balance to make purchases anywhere - in-app, online and in eligible stores. "Users simply add their PayPal account to Samsung Pay, and can then spend the balance anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted," the South Korean tech giant said in a press release. Currently, the feature is only available in the United States, but the company says it will expand to other countries soon - specific markets and exact timeframes, however, weren't revealed. This...

Case maker shows off LG V30's backside

Getting a second source on information is always nice, so here's another look at the LG V30 after the CAD-based 3D renders from last week. These come courtesy of case-maker Ringke by way of MobileFun. The accessory retailer says that both its US and UK sites already host the V30 cases - that's right, the new V-series flagship is actually coming to Europe this time around! It will bring an OLED display, wireless charging and, of course, a dual camera. Rearth Ringke Fusion Case (Clear) • Rearth Ringke Onyx Tough Case (Black) The clear case in particular shows it off well - two...

Nokia 8's dual camera module leaks

You are craving a Nokia flagship, in part due to fond memories of Nokia camera phones of old and HMD's deal with Zeiss poured more fuel on that fire. We're yet to get a definitive look at the dual camera of the Nokia 8. Leakster @evleaks posted a teaser showing two lenses and just a hint of the coveted Zeiss logo. Soon, we should have the full image. A Nokia 8 teaser (an unofficial one) A while back, we saw this launchbox that showed a similar arrangement with a fourth "hole" (Laser AF?). There's also an unnamed Nokia in a video that shows a similar dual-camera setup (but without...

Essential will launch in UK, Japan and Continental Europe

The Essential PH-1 missed its shipping deadline in the US, but the company behind it ensured us that it's still planning big and will launch outside of the US too. Currently a Sprint exclusive in the States and a soon to be TELUS exclusive in Canada the Essential wasn't confirmed to reach any other markets. But Essential representatives have been in talks with EE and others in the UK, working on a release date for the Essential there. There are also plans to bring the Essential to other western European countries and Japan. There's no word on pricing yet but if the US price of $700...

iPhone 8 renders show a larger Power key that (could) house the fingerprint reader

TouchID has reportedly been giving Apple headaches, but evidence is starting to mount that the fingerprint reader will move to the Power button on the side of the phone. Forbes acquired schematics from case designer Nodus and created 3D renders based on them. What they show is that the Power button is significantly enlarged. Apple has already secured a patent for just such a setup. The Home button will go digital on the new wider screen display (5.8" in diagonal). It will be a part of a new "function area", which will also house the notifications. Those have been repositioned, since...

Analyst: don't hold out for an iPhone SE refresh

iPhone SE (2017)? Not so fast - analyst Pan Jiutang believes the small screen phone will be a one-off. If you're keen on a 4-incher, buy an old SE or 5c, he recommends. As for the 2017 iPhones, Pan points out that manufacturers want to hit the 5.5" mark as that is where most smartphone sales are. There will be an iPhone smaller than that, but it will be the 4.7" iPhone 7s. And Apple is expected to go even bigger with the "iPhone 8", which will change the aspect ratio (something we haven't seen since the iPhone 5 in 2012). Source (in Chinese) | Via

However, the playback will stop if you switch to some other chat. Reportedly, the feature is currently only available on iOS, with supported devices including the iPhone 6 and above....
